Gerry Vogel, President
Gerry Vogel is Assistant Director of Avon Lake Public Library, author of Images of America: Avon Lake and keenly interested in what happens when passionate people connect. Besides your stories, concerns, documents and photographs, Gerry enjoys unpopular music, cats, naps and outer space and has lived in Avon Lake since 2006.
Tony Tomanek, Vice President
Tony Tomanek is a native of Avon Lake, and has lived in Avon Lake for 66 years. His family is deeply woven into Avon Lake’s rich history. Tony has enjoyed local history for many years and is serving his first term on the HAL Board. Tony is also a volunteer for The Northern Ohio USO. He enjoys spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, and going on long rides. Tony spent 30 plus years in training and development and is currently president of Tony J. Tomanek Training & Development.
Sandi Gerhan, Treasurer
Sandi Gerhan is an “almost” life-long resident of Avon Lake, having moved to Avon Lake at age 5. Sandi has been working on her own family geneology and wants to ensure Avon Lakers know the history of our “little town”. Sandi is active in many community musical organizations, including 2 choruses, Mighty Goliath Productions as well as church choir and worship band. Semi-retired after 25 years with the American Red Cross Blood Services, Sandi is working part-time at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center clinical laboratory and spends spare time volunteering and working out at the Y.
Lynn moved to Avon Lake in 1992, and feels blessed to live in a town with its welcoming spirit and great sense of community. Lynn has spent years as an active member of Avon Lake PTAs, the Women’s Club, and The Avon Lake United Church of Christ, and she works for the Rocky River Public Library. Lynn’s hobbies include gardening, baking for the Lorain County fair, skiing, and supporting the Shoremen, Buckeyes, Cavs, Tribe, and Browns (even though she was raised a Steeler fan.) She looks forward to helping HAL preserve Avon Lake history, and to spending more time at the beautiful Folger Home.
Tom Patton, Trustee
Thomas Patton has been a resident of Avon Lake for over 40 years, and is interested in preserving and cataloging the history of Avon Lake and specifically the Lake Shore Electric Railway. Tom and his wife Tomie enjoy participating in civil, cultural and community activities that benefit Avon Lake and Northern Ohio.
Chuck and his wife, Hedy, have lived in Avon Lake for the past 52 years. He is retired from Lorain County Community College and Lakeland Community College. He currently serves on the boards of the Peter Miller House Museum and the Avon Lake Kiwanis Club. He also volunteers at Stan Hywett Hall and Garden and is an active member of the Peek n Peak Ski Patrol. Hobbies include gardening, music, history, sports and other outdoor activities.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Steve was employed in the fastener industry for 46 years. Steve and his wife Loretta have been residents of Avon Lake for ten years. and they enjoy helping make it a better place to live.
Judy is a retiree from BFGoodrich/Lubrizol, past member of Avon Lake’s Historic Preservation Commission. She is currently the president of the Peter Miller House Museum as well as an active member of the Avon-On-The-Lake Garden Club.
Marty Gallagher, Trustee
Marty currently works full time as executive vice president/co-owner Suntan Supply and is President of Avon Lake Athletic Boosters. He is married to Joanna and they have four children.
